LOW BACK PAIN

Recovery from Low Back Pain and its many potential causes can be extremely challenging.  Successful rehabilitation demands a holistic, evidence-based approach using treatment-based classification systems.  That is exactly what you will receive at the ActiveEDGE Wellness Center.

2
NECK PAIN

Whether from a car accident or postural overuse, neck pain can be incredibly debilitating.  Many of our daily activities such as reading and computer work can run contrary to our efforts to recover.  Coupling the best manual treatment and targeted exercises with education to minimize  irritants ensures the most timely and complete recovery.

3
SHOULDER INJURY

At ActiveEDGE, we believe in a multifactorial approach to shoulder assessment and treatment.  Proper rehabilitation of the shoulder demands attention to contributing factors including postural tendencies, shoulder blade/spinal dysfunction and even pelvis and diaphragm components.  Without attention to identifying and addressing ALL of these contributing factors, rehabilitation will be incomplete and inadequate.

4
KNEE INJURY

The knee is the joint stuck between the hip and ankle with nowhere to run and nowhere to hide!  This may seem counterintuitive, but that is what the research continually shows.  In no other area of the body is our holistic approach to identifying full-chain contributions to your pain more essential to success than with knee injuries.

5
THE HIP

The hip is a common site for muscle imbalances and joint degeneration based on all the sitting we have to do these days.  Successful treatment of the hip requires excellent hands-on skills and knowledge of the common muscle imbalances around the joint.  Our holistic approach includes this local treatment and goes a step beyond in addressing the compensations the hip has caused up and down the chain.

6
ANKLE/FOOT INJURY

The foot and ankle not only have to support the weight of the body, they must absorb the shock of each step we take.  Allowing an area that experiences so much force and activity to recover requires an intimate understanding of the role of each tiny joint within the foot/ankle complex and how to support and offload them to allow natural recovery.  Working smarter, not harder, is the key to a comfortable and complete recovery.

7
POST-SURGERY

Post-surgical rehabilitation is often oversimplified by only addressing the range of motion and strength deficits. While timing the recovery to match tissue healing times is essential, addressing the compensations up and down the chain from the area of surgery leads to the most complete recovery. We believe in progressing to functional exercises that allow for and demand complete reintegration of the injured region.

8
CHRONIC PAIN

Nothing runs more contrary to wellness than unrelenting pain. It can take the most upbeat person and turn them into a shell of themselves. We understand both the causes and neuro-emotional consequences of chronic pain and have a particular interest in helping those suffering from chronic pain get back to life. We will address the mechanical “drivers” of your pain and dial down the sequelae of having lived with long-term pain.

9
SPORTS INJURY

At ActiveEDGE, we specialize in getting our patients back to their highest level of function. Whether that is completing ironman triathlons, making it back in time for Friday’s football game or playing professional golf pushing the body to those extremes after an injury requires the highest quality rehabilitation possible. The high intensity and deep trust our patients put in us to get them back in the game is the most invigorating and motivating part of our job.

10
WEIGHT LOSS & FITNESS

Physical Therapists are the most highly trained experts in exercise for both systemic health and function. As a bridge between the medical and fitness realms, we “Prescribe” exercise that is both individualized, effective and appropriate. Anyone can make you work really hard, when it comes to avoiding injury and succeeding long-term with weight loss and fitness, the most highly trained experts will work you safely and sustainably to achieve enduring success.

11
PERFORMANCE

As the experts in function, we are your ideal answer for achieving your best performance. Athletic success requires an in depth knowledge of the biomechanics and physical requirements of your sport. We help our patients recover by identifying the weak link that is driving their injury and pain. In much the same way, we are able to identify the weakest link in your athletic performance and come up with a game plan to get you past it and to the next level.

12
“THE PELVIC FLOOR”
The pelvic floor is a very important piece of our “core” and is often overlooked. Not only do the musculature support our organs such as the bladder, uterus and colon, but the muscles also act in coordination with our diaphragm, abdominals, lumbar stabilizers and hip musculature in order to provide stability to our hips and trunk. Dysfunctional pelvic floor muscles may cause symptoms such as incontinence or prolapse. Though these symptoms are common, they are not “normal”. ActiveEDGE is here to address these often-embarrassing issues and help you feel more comfortable in discussing your symptoms. We are here to educate you on the muscles of the pelvic floor and give you the tools you need to make changes to your pelvic health! You may benefit from seeing one of our specialized pelvic floor physical therapists if you have diagnoses such as:
• bowel and/or bladder dysfunction
• urinary and/or fecal incontinence
• pain with intercourse
• prolapse
• vaginismus
• pudendal neuralgia
• sciatica
• pelvic pain
• coccyx pain
